Job Opportunity: Manager at Women in Film and Television Canada

Women in Film and Television Canada (WIFT Canada) was formed as coalition in the fall of 2019. It is made up of a WIFT Atlantic, FCTMN Montreal, WIFT Toronto, WIFT Alberta, and WIFT Vancouver, as well as Women in View. Collectively, we are member-based organizations working in the screen industry that have come together to support the development and advancement of individuals through nationally driven, on-line programming, during these unprecedented times.
WIFT Canada is seeking a Manager to assist with our National programming and administration over a six-month period. This is a new role that has been created due to COVID-19, with funding from the Canadian Media Fund (CMF) to ensure we continue to provide valuable and necessary national professional development opportunities and dialogue to those who identify as female in the screen industry.
The Manager will handle all logistics relating to the running of WIFT Canada and its programming. This programming will be provided virtually through Zoom. Under the direction of the Coalition, the Manager will research and confirm speakers, and will set up and run the technology. The Manager will also oversee the running of the coalition and its overall activities with communication, set up of meetings and follow through, under the direction of the coalition members.
Key Responsibilities under the guidance of the WIFT Canada coalition:
Set up and attend virtual meetings to discuss programming topics and speakers and WIFT Canada administration
Take minutes and distribute, for all meetings
Lead all event logistics, technology, and administration including scheduling and communication
Liaise with WIFT Chapter heads and guest speakers
Create online program registration for events including requesting biographies and headshots for all confirmed speakers
Create and send invites for events and track attendees for reporting purposes
Troubleshoot any online issues before and during events
Prepare marketing materials for each Webinar available for posting by Chapter and post on social media (Instagram, Twitter & Facebook)
Manage the correspondence and payment of all panelists and speakers
Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year of special event /project management experience, preferably in the arts
Knowledge of and passion for the Canadian screen-based industry
Excellent time-management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Zoom
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
Assets
Any of the following skills are considered useful for the position:
Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French (written and/or verbally)
Experience working in a non-profit organization
Ability and experience working with a team across several time zones
Working conditions
Location: Virtual (Individual can work remotely from home anywhere in Canada)
Ideal Start Time: Between September 15 and October 1, 2020
Length of Contract: through to March 31, 2021
Hours: Approximately 50 hours/month
Rate: Flat fee of $10,000
