March 11, 2019

Stewart Young, Executive Producer - Arts and Documentary programming - CBC Atlantic, presents 2019 Pitch Competition prize recipient, Jenna Murphy with her prize package following the Wave Award Celebratory Dinner Saturday night. To complete her film, 'Molly Needs to Pee', Murphy received a $5,000 cash grant courtesy of CBC, as well as in-kind production and post-production services from 902 Post, William F. White International Inc. and The Hideout Studios.                                                                              (Claire Fraser photo)

Selecting only one person to take home the coveted prize package after Saturday's Pitch Competition was not easy, according to this year's jury.

Women in Film and Television Atlantic received a record number of pitches, and with the generosity of the 2019 competition sponsors CBC, William F. White International Inc., 902 Post and Hideout Studios, the jury was able to award one deserving participant out of five incredibly talented and driven finalists.

Nova Scotia independent filmmaker Jenna Murphy  was the recipient  of the CBC Pitch Competition. The jury announced that Murphy’s short film Molly Needs to Pee deftly combines humour with an unflinching view of living with anxiety, in the most original way.

In addition to Murphy, this year's five finalists included Millefiore Clarkes, (Prince Edward Island), Kayla Flinn, (Nova Scotia), Tracey Lavigne (New Brunswick), and Arianna Martinez ( New Brunswick).

WIFT-AT thanks all the talented filmmakers who entered the competition and urges them to enter the 2020 Pitch Competition!
