Film Club 2016 in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Connecting Fierce and Fearless Female Filmmakers!
We are thrilled to announce a brand new series of fun networking events called Film Club 2016.
Film Club will happen bi-monthly (once every 2 months) in various venues around St. John’s.
Organized by WIFT-AT board members Martine Blue & Mel Oates, film club will hold a unique event six times a year designed to connect, support, challenge and inspire each other and ourselves.
Events will include film critique nights, informal workshop sessions on blocking, shot lists, script editing, working with actors, script analysis, sharing and critique of own work, discussion and creation of new projects, etc.
Let’s face it, besides the madness that is production and film fest runs, filmmaking can be a lonely, tireless, underpaid, emotional rollercoaster of a consuming obsession. It’s invigorating to hang out with others who share your struggles and can commiserate over common issues and heartbreaks.
How can I join Film Club 2016?
To join Film Club, you must be a woman and a member of WIFT-AT, Women in Film & Television- Atlantic, $15 – $45 per year, link to join here.
If you have questions, feel free to contact get in contact with Martine Blue: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our next event will happen May 20th 2016. The plan is to watch 2 films on our own, Animal Kingdom and Diary of a Teenage Girl (both are available online) and then come together to discuss them over wine and snacks. Watch one or both, talk about the films and our own projects. Commiserate and celebrate our common passion with a community of peers!
