“Directed by Women” is a program for emerging female filmmakers that provides mentorship, professional development and collaboration opportunities specifically designed to prepare filmmakers to direct feature films. The program is offered by the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP) in partnership with Women in Film and Television-Atlantic (WIFT-AT) as a response to gender imbalance in films directed by women in the Atlantic region.
The program will offer four workshops taught by successful women filmmakers over a four month period. Workshops will cover the topics of screenwriting, directing, working with key crew, pitching and marketing with a focus on addressing the challenges in transitioning from shorts to features.
There is space for eight participants in the program. Applications are due at 5pm on October 16th, 2015.
Must be emerging (completed at least one short film( to mid-career filmmakers)
Must demonstrate a commitment to working professionally in the domain of narrative filmmaking
Applications must include:
A one page treatment of a feature film concept
Letter of intent
