Over the past several months we’ve been working with the Centre for Women in Business at Mount Saint Vincent University, to present a hands on six-month program to develop management skills for women who have their own companies.
The initiative, created for WIFT-AT women who run their own business, is comprised of six one-day sessions featuring roundtable discussions and workshops that will be held between January and June 2015. There is no cost for this pilot program, but participants must be members of the Centre for Women in Business ($125 plus HST).
The Advanced Management and Mentoring Program will focus on providing women with business tools and knowledge to take their business to the next level of growth by completing and implementing a growth plan. The program is designed to provide instruction in growth strategy and business management skills delivered by subject matter experts as well as an environment for peer-to-peer mentoring.
The majority of the six one-day sessions will consist of a half day of presentations by experts and a half day of peer-to-peer mentoring. Participants will have an opportunity to benefit from one-on-one advisory sessions with the program facilitator throughout the program designed to guide them, facilitate the development of their growth plan, and to implement the knowledge transfer from each session. A detailed evaluation process will be conducted at the conclusion of each session to ensure anticipated outcomes are being met.
Eligibility requirements include that applicants are women who own their own company (registered with Revenue Canada) within any area of the screen industry for a minimum of three years; and will commit to attending each of the six sessions. Participants will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement intended to facilitate open and comfortable discussions.
