WIFT-AT presents: Canadian Women in Film Past to Present | FREE screening!

WIFT-AT is proud to be taking part in National Canadian Film Day on April 20, 2016. In celebration, we are screening a Shorts program that will feature films from our membership over the years. The films span from the 80s until the present day and represent each of the Atlantic provinces. The program will be bookended with films by Evelyn Lambart, animator, director, and innovator in Canadian film. Known as the "First Lady of Canadian animation", in 1942, Evelyn became the first woman animator to join theNational Film Board of Canada (NFB). New Waves Update

New Waves is WIFT-AT’s workshop-based initiative for young women aged 18-30. It is a series of five workshops for a group of 9 participants with an interest in the film and television industries with a mentorship component that connects them with established industry workers. The program kicked off at the Women Making Waves conference where these aspiring filmmakers/industry workers were invited as WIFT-AT's special guests. They took in as much of the weekend as possible and many of them had the chance to meet their mentors for the first time.
